The Call from Above: "Living the Sermon"

Pinchas Lapide speaks Matthew 5-7 in terms of “the teaching of the preacher on the mount.” In opposition to a lot of liberal teaching, he stresses that everything points to this passage being authentically consistent with the speaking style of Jesus… his use of hyperbole (a log in the eye), and paradox… his attention to compelling imagery and wordplay. As Lapide has stressed, Jesus has crafted a lesson for us in which the power of faith that it radiates, and the world-affirming spirit that blows into our face points to Jesus as “one of the great luminaries of human history.” Join us each week as we work our pay through this great passage.
