In the Prologue to his book Revelation's Rhapsody Dr. Robert Lowery has written this valid description of the troubled reactions to the book of Revelation: "Church members along with college and seminary students have confessed to being baffled by Revelation’s mysterious language. Seasoned preachers, and not a few professors, have disclosed to me that they are puzzled by the work. It is often perceived to be a favorite book of weird people or individuals who have too much time on their hands" (12). It is my hope that this sermon series will both enlighten and comfort because, just as the original recipients, we find ourselves living in a time in which Christians are persecuted.
